The Text Creation Partnership uses an innovative collaborative partnering model between scholars, university libraries, and commercial publishers to enable the conversion of cultural heritage materials from static page image collections to fully-searchable, TEI-compliant SGML/XML texts. The Partnership includes collections converted from ProQuest’s Early English Books Online, Gale’s Eighteenth Century Collections Online, and Readex’s Evans Early American Imprints. In July 2009, EEBO-TCP completed its 25,000th book. A new phase of EEBO-TCP has just begun, with the aim to convert all of the remaining 44,000 unique EEBO monographs.
The Association for Computers and the Humanities is an international professional organization for digital humanists. As part of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO), ACH co-sponsors an annual conference, publishes an open-access journal (DHQ), and offers mentoring and support to younger scholars and those entering the field.
The Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing was founded in 1973 with the purpose of supporting the application of computing in the study of language and literature. As the range of available and relevant computing techniques in the humanities has increased, the interests of the Association’s members have necessarily broadened to encompass not only text analysis and language corpora but also history, art history, music, manuscript studies, image processing, electronic editions and much else besides. The ALLC’s membership is international, is drawn from across the humanities disciplines, and includes students and established scholars alike.
